The First Graduate of the William R. McNamara Scholarship
Fund...
On Saturday, May 15th 2004, the Ohio Dominican University
awarded one of our very own with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Cross Disciplinary Studies and a minor in Communications
at their Spring Commencement held in Alumni Hall.
Sharina Jordan, who was one of the very first two
recipients of the William R. McNamara Scholarship Fund in 2000,
has done exactly what the Huckleberry House knew she could
do… overcome her obstacles and turn her once crisis
situation into an opportunity. Sharina hopes to find a
position that connects working with people and kids with
Business/Communications.
The William R. McNamara Scholarship Fund was established
by Huckleberry House to recognize the immense contributions
Bill McNamara made to the community, the agency and the
young people and families served by Huck House.
The fund awards two new scholarships each year at the annual
Turn Around Columbus Youth Awards & Recognition Banquet. Former
recipients can also re-apply for continued support if
needed. Since 2000, ten $2,500.00 scholarships have been
presented to new applicants.
